Putting it into perspective: Megaupload had 25 petabytes of data residing on more than 1,000 servers. One petabyte of data, according to Gizmodo, equals 13.3 years of high definition television content. If our math is correct, that’s 332.5 years worth of HDTV content stored on Megaupload’s servers.

Analysis: Megaupload shutdown unlikely to deter piracy

Warning: this is video of Muammar Gaddafi’s corpse being kicked through the streets of Sirte. No way to whitewash that. We’re posting it because many others have, and at this point, it’s a video asset in the history books.

Many of you have heard the tale of Agapito Flores, Fe Del Mundo, and Daniel Dingel. We’ve all heard the stories of Filipinos making their mark on the world, be it in writing, singing, or inventing. But really, which of them really created their “invention?”

Singers, writers, and athletes don’t…

Producers Behind Sesame Street and Rico Blanco Partner on New Campaign Encouraging Learning

(Manila, Philippines, March TK, 2011):  The producers behind world renowned children’s television show Sesame Street and multi-awarded Filipino artist, Rico Blanco are kicking off a new education campaign called “Sesame Street Kid Ako”, (I am a Sesame Street Kid).  In March2011, the partners will create a Sesame Street corner with TV and DVD set, books, and Sesame Street videos at a public school to encourage laughter and learning at an early age. Walkaround Elmo and Cookie Monster will be on hand to join in the education celebration.

As ambassador of the Sesame Street project, Blanco will be the face and voice of the campaign in generating support from the media and sponsors and encourage all his friends and fans of his music to participate.  The partners will kickstart the campaign in one school and hope to secure sponsorship to create additional Sesame Street corners in public schools throughout the Philippines.

“Rico, a wonderfully talented artist, truly connects with his fans through the power of media,” said Maura Regan, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Global Consumer Products, Sesame Workshop.  “His appeal and influence are undeniable and we are thrilled to be working with him to encourage a love of learning with young children in the Philippines.”

Rico was thrilled at the opportunity to be part of the campaign. “I feel blessed to be given this chance to help.” The self-confessed Sesame Street Kid shares, “We’d watch the program everyday and would never miss an episode. We loved the characters, the skits, the art, the music! We would always sing (and sometimes dance!) along to the songs. In fact, along with the Beatles, I’ve always credited Sesame street as one of my biggest early musical influences, shaping my taste in music as a kid, and the kind of music I would later gravitate to as a grown up.”

“As a part of the “Sesame Street Kid Ako” campaign, Blanco will also be working on rock versions of two classic Sesame Street songs which will be performed at a mall concert series. Details to be announced.”

Viewers can catch Sesame Street programming on Disney Asia.

Hope for Baby Job — A Chance to Live

Job Tyrese, our first baby, was born in June 6, 2010 with Biliary Atresiaa fatal, serious and rare liver disease that affects newborn infants (1 out of 15,000).

At six months old, Job Tyrese’s liver — and life — is at risk. His disease is caused by his liver not having bile ducts. The bile ducts should help the liver drain out bile to pass it on to the intestines for digesting food. As a result, the bile is trapped inside his body and this will cause liver scarring and loss of liver tissue/cirrhosis.

While the cause is still unknown, this disease is destroying his liver. Our son is jaundiced or has yellowish eyes and skin, his tummy is noticeably bigger than a normal baby, and his stool/poo is pale-colored. His digestion is poor that’s why he doesn’t gain weight that much.

At a tender age of two months, Baby Job already underwent Kasai procedure (Hepatoportoenterostomy) — a surgical procedure that temporarily provides a passage way of bile out of the liver. Unfortunately, the procedure was a failure. As a consequence his liver will eventually be damaged.

The solution the doctors came up with is through liver transplant. The only curative management for Biliary atresia. Unfortunately, the procedure can only be done in a hospital in Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong or USA. More importantly, the operation costs some P3 million to P4 million ($60,000 - $80,000) specifically in Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan.

It’s a huge amount which our family does not have at this moment. Myself and Thristian, my husband, are newlyweds and are earning just enough as nurses to support our daily needs and baby Job’s medications. This is why we appeal to your kind consideration. Please help us raise funds for our son’s liver transplantation. We will appreciate any amount from your kind heart.

Please visit their support website for more info and donations.
